Review: Space Ghost Vol.2 #2
From Dynamite Comics
This second volume contains a new adventure and some background from Dynamite Comics with Space Ghost #2.
Before he ever met Jan and Jace, the cosmic vigilante Space Ghost had a different kind of partner altogether... a daring thief known as the Eclipse Woman! Wielding a stolen experimental Power Band, the Eclipse Woman went on to rob from every planet in the quadrant — but when she attempts to crack the murderous Boss Parko's high-security vault, will the Eclipse Woman's latest heist spell doom for Space Ghost and his sidekicks?
Written by David Pepose, Art by Jonathan Lau, Colors by Andrew Dalhouse, and Lettering by Taylor Esposito
This was an absolutely fantastic done-in-one story. It gave us everything you could want from a Space Ghost adventure—fast-paced action, big stakes, and just enough personal drama to make it hit harder than your standard fight-of-the-week.
This links nicely to the present, with Space Ghost attempting to stop not only his former partner but also a larger gang war.
The best part, though, might be how it connected his past partner to his current “family.” That push-and-pull between where he’s been and where he is now really made the drama pop. Eclipse Woman, especially, was a standout. She’s got that perfect scoundrel energy—kind of a Han Solo vibe but with her own edge—that made every one of her scenes fun. You never quite know if she’s going to help, betray, or do something completely unexpected, and that unpredictability gave the whole issue extra spark. Honestly, I’m crossing my fingers she becomes a recurring character, because she adds a whole new layer to Space Ghost’s world.
I enjoyed the artwork in this issue, especially the brilliant colouring choices in the final part of this adventure.
Hopefully, there will be more to come from the Eclipse Woman in the future as she adds a new dimension to Space Ghost's family and relationships and a new possible foil.
Overall, this issue is a fantastic reminder of why this series stands out. It blends pulpy action with mystery, layered relationships, and genuine heart. If Eclipse Woman returns in future issues—as this story suggests she might—she promises to bring a whole new dimension to Space Ghost’s ongoing journey, both as a hero and as a member of a makeshift family. This series continues to impress by balancing spectacle with substance, and I’m eager to see where it goes next.
