After last issue’s excellent cliffhanger, Space Ghost #5 wastes absolutely no time kicking things back into high gear. The action is fast, fierce, and relentless from the very first page.
Space Ghost himself has taken a severe beating while defending the Remora people, and with him temporarily out of commission, the Remora decide it’s finally their moment to strike back against the Glasstor. The crystal-based weapon we saw last issue pays off smartly here, and it feels perfectly logical that the Remora’s own doomsday device would be water-based—a clever bit of elemental symmetry in the storytelling. Even with that advantage, it’s a close-run thing, and once Space Ghost gets back in the fight, he’s got his work well and truly cut out for him.
Meanwhile, Jace is dealing with a whole different kind of pressure. Accused of attempted assassination, he’s put through the wringer emotionally and morally. The way he stands up to his accusers, though, is pitch-perfect for the character. It’s a reminder of why Jace has always been such a strong component of the Space Ghost mythos—and the steady, unwavering support he gets from Jan reinforces why the pair make such an ideal team.
The conspiracy thread running through this arc continues to unfold in satisfying ways. Jan’s investigation isn’t just background noise; it pays off in tangible steps forward, inching the story toward what should be a tidy resolution for everyone involved.
…or so it seems.
Because, of course, not all is as it appears. There’s another layer beneath the surface, something bigger, more sinister, and more closely tied to the overarching narrative of this volume. The creative team is clearly laying groundwork for a larger mystery and an escalating threat, and it all clicks together neatly.
In addition to the storytelling, this is a visually energetic issue. The artwork, lettering, and colouring all pull their weight—and then some. The team handles everything from explosive, boombastic battles to quieter, more investigative moments with equal skill, guiding you smoothly through the action and intrigue without ever losing the pace or clarity.
If you haven’t been reading Space Ghost from Dynamite, this is absolutely the time to jump in. The series is firing on all cylinders, blending classic heroics with modern storytelling flair. Check it out—you won’t regret it.
