Continuing on this new mini-series, The Ambassadors #3 is out now from Image Comics.
The world is in a frenzy. Everyone wants superpowers, but only six people will be selected as their country’s Ambassadors in this global competition. Meet the mother and son superhero team from Paris!
Writer: Mark Millar, Artist: Travis Charest
This was an interesting issue. We get introduced to the next Ambassadors. This time we are travelling to Europe. With a French mother giving her story. She has a tense relationship with her son, and I like how this story builds up. Both are looking for something, and the ending is well played out.
We get a real look at what the powers can do here, with limitations on age and the positive aspects. There are the classic ones (strength, flight), but I like how they can download different fighting styles and other aspects.
There is a certain amount of tension throughout this issue, and I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. There is a minor twist and a similar one at the end, and I like how the whole issue brings the Ambassadors together.
The art is great fun, mixing Parisian life and the way around the city with the superheroic action in the issue. The style and the colouring suit it all very well.
