The fourth issue of The Hardways is out now. Check out some of my thoughts on this excellent series.
THE PENULTIMATE ISSUE!!! Can the Brandini sisters save Maury? Will anyone survive the confrontation at the hideout? Should you hit on soft 17 against a dealer's 6? READ ON TO FIND OUT!
Written by Russell Lissau, drawn and lettered by Shawn Richison, and colored by Juan Rivera.
This was an excellent and clever issue.
Things happen here, and there are many twists and turns as we get some good action and some interesting character moments.
One point that really jumped out on me, is that with all those twists and everything going on, it all is featured in one room! Not even one building, but one room, and that makes it really clever and something that works really well in the context of this part of the story.
Even so, it doesn’t feel a cramped, pent-up story and each character gets time to shine in different ways. Some only briefly, but even so there are some well thought-out moments here and it really builds us up to an interesting finale for the final issue.
I enjoyed the art, it takes the one-room scenario and runs with it. The lettering and art doesn't feel cramped nor like you have to squint too takes it all in. In the terms of action, it really plays it well and has done clever staffing of the angles.
Roll on the finish!
