Wow! That was a deep, dark issue.

Delving deeply into the history of the order - although not too long ago - this issue had some excellent twists and turned throughout the issue. I must admit I had an inkling of one, but the kicker at the end was well played out and caused me to flick back some pages to see if I read what I thought I read.

The story is fantastically paced, and I felt that this issue was a real page-turner as I felt more drawn in and in with the characters. As Cordelia and Francis find themselves getting into the story and discovering the secret history, so do we. The ending of that particular part will make the next issue very interesting.

With the larger arc and other characters, the link is even better, and I can’t wait until next month.

The artwork is brilliant, with excellent colouring choices, magical battles, distant realms, and the mundane. The use of shadows is especially poignant in this issue and cleverly used.

The two surprises in this issue are well played out, with some very different poses.
