Review - TMNT: Mutant Nation #6
From IDW Publishing
Adventures with Beebop and Rocksteady in this latest issue of TMNT: Mutant Nation from IDW Publishing.
Bebop & Rocksteady hit Las Vegas! Millions of viewers tune in for the boxing match of the century, and Bebop & Rocksteady have front row seats!
But when the fight doesn’t go their way, our favourite mutants take matters into their own oversized hands, costing some very dangerous people a lot of money. With an entire city hot on their heels, can Bebop & Rocksteady escape Las Vegas without destroying it?
As you would expect, the main story here is a big, bombastic story. Of course, you would expect that with Beebop and Rocksteady, these two aren’t subtle!
As they make their way on a bit of a holiday in Las Vegas, the mutant duo get to watch some boxing - which they discover a horrible truth about, as well as checking out the racing in the streets (not Formula 1 though!). I like how this continually builds up and it feels pretty absurd in some ways, but entertaining even so. The art has some fun in the bright lights of Las Vegas too!
Then we have the letters from Lita, with a nice backup story of a former mutant adjusting to a new life and new surroundings. I love they way it is told and the soft tones of the lighting, art style and colouring are very well played out.
A nice ending to it all as well.
