Falling through my letterbox from across the pond, Unlimited Udo lays out from the fantastic covers what you can expect from this fun read.
Right off the bat, there is some great quality to the comic. This one had come a long distance to me, and holding it in my hands, I could tell that some time (and money) had been put into it.
Adriano Ariganello kicks us off with the now, with a fun couple of pages that lead us right into the flashback. This flashback explains how we got to the point there was Unlimited Udos’! Hope’s character is quite involved in this, and her point of view leads this story. I like how this brings her full circle and possibly brings a dream that some former employees must feel1.
As the story progresses, there is some fun, and it leads us nicely to a glorious conclusion that makes you smile grimly.
A special note to the cliffhanger at the end gave me a read ‘Future Shocks’ feel and made me hope for more from this story.
The art is imaginative and has some excellent scenes and angles to play with. From a dark attic to the more glorious residence, some brilliantly plotted panels give us a good idea of what to expect. Some of the larger panels could be front covers on their own.
I really enjoyed the colouring throughout this comic. With some clever use of reds and purples, a battle scene could be an old martial arts movie bathed in red lights. Some clever palette choices are made here.
In conclusion, I have got to say that this comic is a breath of fresh air in the comic world. It's unique, creative and has a storyline that will make you want to keep turning the pages. To everyone involved in the creation of this comic, I applaud you. It's not every day that you come across something that leaves you wanting more. Can't wait to see what's next for Unlimited Udos'!
