Review - Van Helsing: Bloodborne
A new one-shot story from Zenescope Entertainment. This is Van Helsing: Bloodborne.
Liesel Van Helsing has always been driven by two things: science and hunting vampires. Although she inherited both interests from her father, one is a calling, while the other is her passion. But, when the supernatural and scientific parts of her life collide to take a twisted turn, Liesel is caught in the middle and must deal with the results of a failed, but very deadly, experiment. Who--or what--is Bloodborne? What does it want? And, most importantly, can Liesel stop this mysterious new creature before it gets out into the world?

This is an interesting one. Linking together with the recent losses Van Helsing has had, we meet another of her friends from a previous adventure. Igor is a scientist, and as we learn, he participating in some seriously dangerous science. The introduction to this issue gives us a good idea as to what it is.
Building up relatively slowly after the initial flash-forward, we get a good look as to what this problem is - after that, things rapidly degenerate from there.
The action is well told, with multiple gruesome fatalities. It is well done in some tight spaces - including the catacombs of Paris (somewhere I would like to see) the claustrophobic spaces are well shown and have some good aspects to it.
This is an interesting stop-gap for Van Helsing and I wonder where she will be next...
The thoughts that Igor may have should be tempered with the fact that if Van Helsing wasn't there - things would have been worse.
