It's an exciting adventure for Van Helsing here. Yes, Van Helsing has had adventures involving magic and witches before, but she usually has a degree of assistance from someone similar to this.
Yes, there are mentions of magic users (like Shang) or witch-botherers (Gretel), but they are quickly passed off and have no involvement in this story.
Even so, this story will have some interesting repercussions, with deals being done that may cause trouble in the long run and possibly one that will cause heartbreak as well.
This was a good issue that moved some of the more significant ongoing issues Van Helsing has had along well. It should hopefully put a hold on some of them to be revisited at a future point. Leaving Van Helsing to move on to other things.
The action worked well with strange creatures, witches, magic, and possessed people. The way things worked was logical, and there were some nice twists in the story that made it a good read.
