A new series from writer Mark Millar and artist Per Berg from Dark Horse Comics. Vampires and action in Vatican City #1.
The world has been overrun by a vampire apocalypse, every man, woman and child dead except the two thousand tourists safe behind the walls and holy relics of Vatican City.
But as the vampires gather in their millions outside, how long can they hold out? Because the monsters can wait forever.
Author: Mark Millar

It’s an action-packed beginning to this new series. It’s quite brutal from the outset, giving us a good idea of what to expect from this story.
Vampires, with all their strengths and weaknesses, are well known, and this coordinated attack seems to have a reason - even if that means that they are going to attack the one place where you would expect that they would be weakest.
Vatican City is possibly the last place you would expect to find vampires, but this is where we find ourselves - and for a good reason (for the vampires)
This is a fast-paced initial issue, marked by the chaos of the attack and the back-and-forth between the various characters. It seems like we have them set out, and this gets us ready for the siege of the city, along with more death and blood.
The reasoning behind the attack on both the world (generally) and Vatican City (specifically) makes sense in this context, and a more significant threat is on the horizon here. Meanwhile, we have characters with their own agendas who want to stop them.
I love the artwork in this issue. It is very dynamic, and there is a lot to take in during the first read, with even more to appreciate upon re-reading.
This was a bloody beginning, and I look forward to seeing what comes next.
