Reviews: Cinderella Vs The Tooth Fairy, GFT & A Halloween Special
Some thoughts on the latest from Zenescope
Zenescope Entertainment has a selection of new comics out this week. Two specials include Cinderella Vs The Tooth Fairy, a Haloween Special, and the latest of the ongoing Grimm Fairy Tales series.
Grimm Spotlight: Cinderella Vs The Tooth Fairy
The psychotic, stabby, and lovable but definitely not huggable serial killer princess is back, and this time she is taking on…uhm…The Tooth Fairy? How? Why? We actually aren’t that sure. Swords, teeth, raccoons named Gerald? Get ready for Cindy like you’ve never seen her before…vs The Tooth Fairy.

Cinderella’s adventures always seem a little crazy. This is good because so is she. She does seem to have her way, and in this special issue, things are not going the way she wants. Bounced from place to place, she deals with many fairytale folks, including gnomes, pixies, changelings and the Tooth Fairy.
The Tooth Fairy is just a tiny part of this story, as much more is happening. It’s quite a fun affair, with some dark humour and constant rambling from Cindy. Even the Tooth Fairy gets fed up with it.
I enjoyed this as we worked our way through various battles, and the bit with the gnomes was amusing. I also liked that it is leading to something else for Cindy in the following special.
There was some classic fun with the art and some good colouring throughout.

Things are ramping up here, and we are still getting vague hints and suggestions of what is to come.
There is more action in this issue, along with some expositions and some history. This is some planning in the long term for these foes.
The action is well done and links back to a previous comment. Nevertheless, there is a loss for the Arcane team and insufficient knowledge. The comment about Robyn and Van Helsing is exciting and probably relevant too.
I like how the fight ended and the moments of doubt, combined with some learning. Nevertheless, we have a long way to go with this story arc by the looks of it.

This was a large-sized story with a lot going on. The advantage was that we all got a good look at all the characters involved, and a lot of building was in place.
The characters were slightly cliched, but this is a horror special, and you’ve got to have some of that! I like the dynamics between some of them and the way they clashed. Adding the reality show factor, the crew and the presenter build up nicely.
I like how the actual threat is shown early on - although there is a lot more than that to it, it pulls you in nicely. The hints are all there, and I like how it eliminated the various competitors.
There are some good twists and turns until we get to the end, and the last few pages do deserve a re-read.
A fun Halloween special
