Now running at Vault Comics, is the new series Lilith with issue #1 out, and issue #2 out this week.
Lilith #1
Lilith is an immortal who’s been banished from her home, a dimensional plane suspiciously similar to mankind’s idea of Hell.
She’s been posing as a model on Earth while secretly preying on humans… that is, until she runs into Penelope, a sweet bookstore owner with a tome that might hold the secret to returning Lilith to her dimension.
If the mismatched pair doesn’t end up falling in love first! ‘Watch out, boy, she’ll chew you up.’
Lilith #2
Lilith has found the Book of Babylon, an ancient text that could get her home. There’s just one teeny-tiny itty-bitty problem: it’s in the hands of a human named Penelope who’s the only one who can read it. Alright, let’s be honest, there are more problems. Lilith still needs to find a new photographer, while keeping her appetite under wraps. Bad time for a sultry man named Michael to buy her a drink.

These first two issues have done an excellent job of setting up the story and the characters involved. The main one is Lilith, of course, and she is not of this world. From a hell-like dimension, she has been banished to our plane, which causes some problems, the main ones being life and food.
The life part seems interesting, with Lilith working as a model and dealing with some sleazy photographers. The current one is a bit of a diva and causes more problems for Lilith - but luckily, there is a solution for this problem, and it also solves the food problem.
Yes, Lilith eats him…!
This is where the story gets entertaining, as along with this bloody meal, Lilith goes out looking for a more satisfying snack and bumps into someone who could solve all her problems.
This is using the Book of Babylon, which, by some clever reasoning, is what she needs to return to her own dimension…
Issue two follows up this excellent beginning with more of Lilith’s escapades and a search for a new photographer - this she finds, but more problems are on the way.
I found this to be an entertaining and enthralling story. It has some good action, albeit one-sided, and an excellent art style, with black-and-white art and plenty of red. The action may be more balanced in the next issue, so that will be good to see.
It’s worth jumping on and an excellent addition for Vault Comics.
