This week, the story continues in Night Club II #2 with the teenage vampires, and a new story arc begins in Magic Order 5 #1 from Dark Horse Comics.
Night Club II #1
Sam was the sweet, chubby best friend at school. Now that he’s a vampire, he’s become the biggest jock in his year and hammering win after win on the basketball court. The girls love him, and so do the bullies, but his friends are getting very concerned.

Teenage angst!
That, plus the gangs, and oh yes! The vampires.
This was a well-plotted story, with a route taken that I didn’t expect. This is a good thing; it goes a different way, and now I don’t know what to think about how this story will go forward.
I like how it deals with the superheroics and how that mixes with the dealing with teenage problems (the traditional type) and the vampire issues.
There is some excellent art here, with some well-played-out scenes. The action with Sam was fantastic, and I do wonder how this aspect is going to lead up. I found this issue gripping, and there are some points for moving the story forward.
The cliffhanger works well; I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Magic Order 5 #1
The final volume begins as Cordelia Moonstone is told she’s going to die soon and there’s nothing she can do about it. She broke the rules and now she has to pay the price, just like all her friends.

I’ve always thought that the Magic Order series is one of the darker series of the Millarverse - more so than Nemesis - and this beginning of the fifth and final story kicks in and continues along that dark path.
There is an exciting crime happening, with two separate attacks on the same woman and the kidnapping of her child. Of course, Cordelia wants to investigate and is drawn into the story. All the while, things are happening around her, and the Magic Order is in more trouble.
Yes, it concerns some things that have gone before, and I like the buildup in this issue. There is a lot for newer readers, but those aware of the world are well into it now.
There isn’t too much action going on here, but a reasonable degree of magic, and I like the subtle ways it is both used and shown in this issue.
The twist at the end makes you question many things that have gone before, and I wonder where this big twist is leading. It is surly a nasty one.
