WEBSTER has been over 20 years in the making and FINALLY is here for you!!! AW YEAH!!!
Art Baltazar shared his excitement about bringing the character to life:
“Wow! The moment is finally here! Webster the Spider Monkey in his very own graphic novel! Webster is a character I created around 2000 or 2001 (around the same time as Gillbert), and he is a welcoming addition to the ever-expanding Aw Yeah Comics universe! He looks a little different from how he looked in 2000. Originally, he was a parody character, but soon his own lore began to develop around him. So naturally, I had to have him meet up and team up with the legendary Action Cat! Webster the Spider Monkey has been in my mind and in my sketchbook for years. I am always thinking about his universe and his stories and characters and villains and stuff. I have so many ideas for him, I couldn't fit them all in this first volume. Ha! He was even created before Action Cat. Wow, time flies. I can't wait to unleash him on the masses! AW YEAH!!!”
Baltazar balances over-the-top fun with a grounded emotional core, tapping into what it means to survive when others didn’t, and how far you’ll go to protect what’s left, delivering a fast-paced, boldly cartooned take on superhero origins that will resonate with readers and longtime fans alike.
Webster the Spider Monkey: Spectacular Amazement goes on sale May 5, 2026, in paperback (ISBN: 9781545826355 | $12.99) and hardcover (ISBN: 9781545826362 | $17.99) formats. Not every win looks the same…
Man’s best friend features in Nakama Press’s YA graphic novel, Best Friend Show by Craig Hurd-McKenney and Melisa Jones.
This summer, Mad Cave Studios’ Nakama Press imprint invites readers into the unexpected world of competitive dog shows with BEST FRIEND SHOW, a heartwarming YA graphic novel about healing, friendship, and first love, set against the high-stakes world of competitive dog shows.Written by Xeric grant-awarded and Ignatz Award-nominated creator Craig Hurd-McKenney (Some Strange Disturbances, The Brontës: Infernal Angria, Boris Karloff’s Gold Key Mysteries) and brought to life by Bay Area-based illustrator and comics artist Melisa Jones, Best Friend Show blends emotional honesty with the unique rhythms of the dog show circuit, creating a story that feels as grounded as it is uplifting.
Sixteen-year-old Landon Snyder never expected to spend his summer in the world of dog shows. But after a family illness combined with a breakup sends him to live with his Aunt Iva, who runs a bustling dog rescue, Landon discovers a surprising talent for training—and a bond with Blue, Iva’s champion show dog. Between a cocky rival, a shy new friend who sees him like no one else, and the pressures of the Best in Show, Landon learns that healing doesn’t always come with a ribbon...but sometimes with love, loyalty, and second chances.
That perspective carries through from the creators themselves.
“There is nothing in this world like the joy and unconditional love of a dog in the house,” said Craig Hurd-McKenney. “My rescue dogs, from Widget to Clovis, have saved me over and over and over again. While I have not shown dogs, I did agility training with my girl, Lucy. It brought us closer together and made us both more confident. My hope is that, through Best Friend Show, people will discover a self-confidence that only a deeper connection to our canine comrades can bring, and a community & social connection that a mutual love of dogs can provide.”
Melisa Jones added, “I have grown up with dogs and will one day grow old with dogs, which is why I'm so excited to be a part of a project that celebrates our relationship with dogs and how they influence our connections with people. Everyone who knows me knows my dogs, Nicky, Elliot, and Callie. My hope is for Best Friend Show to bring readers as much joy as my dogs have brought me.”
Best Friend Show speaks to readers navigating change, identity, and the quiet courage it takes to start over. It’s a coming-of-age story rooted in found family, first love, and the bond between humans and animals that can reshape everything. A softer, character-driven take on competition with a sports manga edge, it will appeal to fans of Prince of Tennis, Haikyuu!!, and Heartstopper.
Best Friend Show goes on sale August 11, 2026, in paperback (ISBN: 9781545827611 | $10.99). Preorder at your favorite bookstore, comic shop, or from nakamapress.com.
Friendship is the ultimate weapon.
Robot/penguin heroes, multiversal threat, and more in Xanar & Mr. Tuxedo, coming soon from Papercutz.
When a villain threatens every universe, only two unlikely best friends can stop him with the power of courage, trust, and joy.
Mad Cave Studios’ YA imprint Papercutz presents XANAR & MR. TUXEDO, the middle-grade graphic novel that throws two wildly different heroes into a collapsing multiverse, where courage, trust, and joy may be the only things holding reality together. Xanar & Mr. Tuxedo
Written by Sean Ryan (Nova, The Amazing Spider-Man), with art by Giulia Giacomino (Disney Lilo & Stitch), colors by Valerio Alloro (Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories), and letters by Eisner, Ringo, and GLAAD Media award-winning Lucas Gattoni, brings together a boyish, optimistic robot and a gruff, one-eyed penguin in a story that moves across worlds, tones, and genres without losing its heart.

Friendship is a powerful thing. Hailing from two different universes, Xanar and Mr. Tuxedo are brought together because of Roy Higgins, a powerful sorcerer, determined to eradicate his sworn enemy in every single reality. Roy’s singular focus on his foe has made him paranoid, angry, violent and mean. His corrupting influence threatens to destroy every universe in existence. The only two that can put a stop to Roy, through bravery, hope, trust and joy, are new best friends, Xanar and Mr. Tuxedo.
Sean Ryan shared: "It still doesn't feel real that Xanar & Mr. Tuxedo is really a graphic novel that is going to be released. I came up with these characters 26 years ago, and so now to see them brought to life so exquisitely by Giulia is surreal. I hope readers love these characters and want to follow them in any future adventures they might have. And maybe, also, for them to find joy in Xanar's persistent optimism in the face of aggressive anger, despair, and fear."
Pulling from the spirit of Adventure Time and the multiversal unpredictability of Rick and Morty, this exciting new OGN delivers a fast-moving, emotionally grounded adventure that will speak to younger readers. Friendship is the ultimate weapon when two unlikely allies rise to face a sorcerer determined to erase every reality.
Perfect for readers ages 10-14, Xanar & Mr. Tuxedo goes on sale July 7, 2026, in paperback (ISBN: 9781545827079 | $14.99) and hardcover (ISBN: 9781545827086 | $19.99) formats. Order from your favorite bookstore, comic shop, or papercutz.com.
