Cyberpunk satire in No future
Magnetic Press has previewed their new graphic novel coming out this Wednesday - No Future.
Coming this Wednesday from Magnetic Press:
NO FUTURE, a deluxe satirical cyberpunk graphic novel by the award-winning screenwriter Corbeyran and fan-favorite illustrator Jef. The acclaimed creative team behind A Bullet in the Head reunites to deliver a neo-noir story that recaptures the pulse and aesthetic of classic sci-fi with vivid, nostalgic artwork.
Imagine flying cars, robot servants, and universal freedom to live without limits—a dreamlike future, right? Not quite. In this world, the line between utopia and dystopia is razor-thin and trampled underfoot. Far-left and far-right politics curve back around, reflecting each other in a warped, endless struggle.
In this future, interstellar mega-corporations set the rules, controlling politics through market manipulation, while the masses are lulled by the comforts of consumerism. Yet, beneath the corporate sheen, pockets of resistance simmer in the gritty depths of the lower streets. Sometimes, all it takes is a single spark to ignite a revolution…
A striking commentary on modern times, No Future is a fusion of The Fifth Element, Blade Runner, Brazil, and Idiocracy!
Stella Corp is the leading provider of space tourism, a trillion-dollar enterprise that led mankind to settle the stars. Corruption along the way can be assumed, but no one could possibly know the depths of it, not as rigidly as they police their own secrets. When a lone thief manages to steal secret documents, however, they call in mercenary bounty hunter HALEN BRENNAN to track him down, retrieve the stolen material, and eliminate the culprit. Her cold, callous demeanor is put to the test, however, when she finds the target: JEAN-CLAUDE BELMONDEAU, a down-on-his-luck thief with seemingly noble intentions...
This neo-noir blockbuster graphic novel recaptures the energy and aesthetic of classic sci-fi masters such as Moebius, Bilal, Juan Gimenez, and Ladronn with a modern flair.
No Future, a highspeed cyberpunk vision of tomorrow, drops in shops Nov. 13.
Defy the beasts, defy the past in One Path
A new graphic novel from Mad Cave Studios has been announced, set in a savage land before time. This is One Path.
Red in tooth and claw, a tribe of cavewomen struggle to survive in a brutal, uncaring world…
Mad Cave Studios proudly presents
ONE PATH—a raw, dark fantasy graphic novel by acclaimed artist and writer Greg Broadmore (Conan the Barbarian), co-written by Andy Lanning (Guardians of the Galaxy) with letters by Rob Jones—in a visceral exploration of progress versus tradition, the fearsome cost of change, and the primal drive to defy the status quo.
Hunted by giant primordial beasts, red in tooth and claw, a tribe of cavegirls scratch out a bleak existence in a brutal uncaring world. They cling onto a life where not many make it beyond the first few months, let alone to adulthood. Governed by ancient laws and arcane rituals - the only constants they have - they follow the old ways of pain of death.
But One Path, a hunter and warrior, has a plan to change their lives. To free them from the toll the great predators that stalk them charge, and it will overturn everything they know. Sometimes change is scarier than death.
Writer Greg Broadmore spoke of the project:
"One Path is a savage and brutal story, one that I felt a deep primal urge to release—I didn't really understand where it was coming from as it seemed to tumble out of a deep subconscious, unasked for. It's a story of raw animal violence, and the grim bleakness of life on the edge of survival, but also of family, and unbreaking love - and ancient traditions that might need breaking... or might not. It is deeply personal to me but hopefully contains truths many people can relate to—
I've had the pleasure of working on some of the most incredible films, and helped make some of the most bleeding-edge tech in video games - but for me, nothing compares to the power and purity of making comics. It's the medium I always return to—one where I feel most creatively liberated. And this time I had the wisdom and combined superpowers of Andy Lanning (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Nick Boshier (Moth Effect) to help me craft it and take it to the next level—
Mad Cave Studios is bold—and perhaps a bit crazy (fitting, given the name)—for taking a chance on what must have seemed like a wild vision. Their commitment to creators and unique storytelling makes them the perfect partner, and I'm thrilled they gave this world of feral cave girls and devouring dinosaurs a place to call home—a Mad Cave.”
Defy the beasts, defy the past. One Path drops in comic shops and bookstores Mar. 17, 2025.
