Dark Horse Comics has announced a new (return) series coming in September 2024 - Survival Street - an it looks like some manic fun!
Let the mayhem ensue: The surprise hit series SURVIVAL STREET from Dark Horse Comics returns!
Announcing SURVIVAL STREET: THE RADICAL LEFT, co-created and written by five time Harvey nom and Excelsior Award-winner, James Asmus (Rick & Morty: Corporate Assets, Captain America & Bucky, Transformers), and the celebrated fan-favorite writer Jim Festante (Rick & Morty: Super Spring Break Special, The End Times of Bram & Ben, Field Tripping)—featuring a star-studded creative team with illustrations by Kazakhstanian artist Abylay Kussainov, colors by Ringo Award-winning Ellie Wright (Batman/The Shadow, Red Sonja, Vampirella), and letters by Ringo Award-winning Taylor Esposito (Drawing Blood, Space Ghost, Robin Lives!).
This four-issue miniseries with standalone adventures is the exciting continuation of the original Survival Street series, packing an all-new punch in battles against A.I., soulless kids’ entertainment, American colonialism, and much more!
After America is sold off to private companies, this A-B-C-Team of ex-entertainers rescues kids from cruel company towns. But Portland can’t hold everyone they rescue, and the cracks are about to break… Prepare for a radical departure in the series Library Journal called a “blisteringly satirical mash-up of Sesame Street and Robocop.”
“Survival Street started as the creative primal scream Jim in 2020 is probably the most enthusiastic reception of anything I’d done in 16 years of writing comics,” said James Asmus. “The idea of these colorful children’s television characters as our gritted heroes was not about shock value or cheap laughs. Volume 2 shifts focus to the thorny struggles that can cause friction or fractures among allies. Really, so much of the magic and success of the series stems from the incredible team who put their passion and skill into the pages. Our editor Daniel Chabon and the team at Dark Horse curate such exceptional and unique books by so many of the most exciting creators in comics, we wear the Dark Horse as a badge of honor. We couldn’t be happier that Survival Street is part of their incredible legacy of truly original creator-owned comics.”
“James and I have always been drawn to satire because you can take a really big, really complex issue and use humor to make it accessible,” said Jim Festante. “When it’s not grounded in something you see every day (like anthropomorphic puppets), it’s easier to step back and say, wow, that’s pretty messed up – how can I address or fix that? We wanted people who don’t usually read comics to be excited for Survival Street. I imagine the sets of our little Venn diagram involve an awareness of politics, love of puppets, and a desire for catharsis in a world where tech bros pump out AI-driven nonsense for kids whose only goal is to keep little eyes glued to a screen. I am so unbelievably proud of the team that’s brought these books to life. Getting to make comics with Abylay Kussainov, Ellie Wright, and Taylor Esposito, and to collaborate with my favorite writer and friend James Asmus, it’s been such a joy to be a part of Survival Street.”
Featuring additional cover art by Ben Dewey, Juan Doe, Marie Enger, Artyom Trakhanov, and Colleen Coover, this new entry in Dark Horse Comics’ legacy of truly original creator-owned series, Survival Street: The Radical Left #1 drops in shops September 25, 2024, and is now available for preorder at your local comic shop!

Maverick has announced the release of Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders this week.
Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders is now available! The updated YA take on the hit 90s cartoon encourages the magic of female friendship, and is the perfect sparkling fantasy adventure!
This brand new addition to the Princess Gwenevere & the Jewel Riders universe allows readers to join Gwenevere, the princess of Avalon and wielder of the Sun Stone, and her friends, Fallon and Tamara, on a quest to keep Avalon safe as enchanted Jewel Riders. While the girls remain friends, things are not as they once were. Gwenevere – once the leader of the Jewel Riders – has had to take a step back from her true passion, being a Jewel Rider and protecting Avalon from evil, in order to step into a new role as the future queen. Fallon, holder of the Moon Stone now leads the Pack–an elite group of Avalon’s protectors, a role once held by Gwen’s fiance. Tamara trains under Merlin to better harness the power of her Heart Stone, but wonders where she–and her powers–truly belong. When Merlin begins acting oddly, it’s a sign that evil Wild Magic has returned to the kingdom–and so has a foe the Jewel Riders thought they’d once vanquished. With her kingdom, friends, and magic on the line, Gwenevere must choose between the life she loves and knows as a Jewel Rider and her newfound duties. Come join our circle of friends on an enchanted, new adventure for Young Adult readers.
Writer Jordie Bellaire said, "I'm really looking forward to expanding and developing the Jewel Riders further than the show had time to do along with my fantastic collaborators Koi Carreon, and Sarah Davidson! This work will be great for fans of the show and accessible to new readers looking for a magical girl friend group. Featuring flying horses, family drama and friendship - there's something for everyone to enjoy.”
Artist Koi Carreon said, “I have very fond memories of watching the show with my sister when I was a child. I hope the new book can inspire the kids today the same way the old tv show did for me.”
The book’s editor, Lauren Hitzhusen of Mad Cave Studios, was pleased to have played a major role in making this project a reality, as she has loved the original TV series since she was a child. "One of my earliest childhood memories is standing in Toys R Us, holding a VHS for Princess Gwenevere & the Jewel Riders. It was a show that I instantly fell in love with– Gwenevere's perseverance, Fallon's strong leadership, and Tamara's kind heart all spoke to me as a child,” she said. “I loved the talking animals, the glittering gemstones, and how fun and colorful the world was. It's really a dream come true for me to be able to expand the world of the Jewel Riders and tell their stories today. I'm so thrilled to be on this team and working with these talented creators to help bring this book to life."

Markosia has announced that you can now pre-order Traveller: Riftbreaker #1.
The spacelanes of the Imperium are made of star clusters and mains that guide the flow of interstellar traffic. The stars provide the path for Travellers to cross Charted Space. But there are vast expanses of starless space where only the boldest Travellers dare to go. The yawning void of the Great Rift is one such expanse. Adventurers Revo Sanderson and his brave crew are determined to do the unthinkable: Cross the Rift using their wits and a standard scout ship. It’s a crazy idea, but Travellers are made of sterner stuff than your average spacer.
Traveller is the role-playing game of the far future, first published in 1977, now brought to you by Mongoose Publishing. Traveller: Riftbreaker is a foray into Traveller’s celebrated Charted Space setting, where ordinary spacers take on extraordinary challenges.
This issue also includes bonus material for the game that describes just what “riftbreaking” is and how it’s done. Also included are stats and deck plans for the S-464077-F, the trusty old Type-S scout ship featured in the story.
Written by Chris Giffen with pencils by Luigi Iannelli, inks by Matteo Cialdella, colours by Francesca Gatto, cover art by Mykyta Vasylchuk and lettering and design work by Ian Sharman, Traveller: Riftbreaker #1 is available to pre-order in prestige format.
