At San Diego Comic-Con, Magma Comix has announced a new comic series - Rome Eternal.
The Roman Empire has endured for millennia… but can their reign endure today?
During their San Diego Comic-Con International panel Friday evening, Magma Comix announced the forthcoming title, ROME ETERNAL!
In collaboration with Ruptura Estudios, this pulse-pounding new series features Mexican writer Homero Rios (Heavy Metal) and Argentine artist Diego Yapur as they flex their storytelling muscles in this brutal alternate history.
In a world where the Roman Empire never fell, it now stands on the brink of collapse. For over two thousand years, Roman society has thrived, evolving into a technological and military powerhouse. Yet its immense power has bred corruption, making it vulnerable to a group of unique and fanatical individuals known as the Mithra Mysteries. To some, they are terrorists; to others, they are heroes. As their enigmatic leader reveals his bold plan to assassinate the Emperor, no one within Rome is safe!

Ruptura Estudios was originally founded in the 1990s amid the burgeoning scene of the so-called “new Mexican comic.” Over time, it has stepped in and out of the spotlight, changing its form and finding different ways to collaborate with other publishing houses. Now, nearly 30 years since its inception, it returns with its core mission intact: help creators and readers on journeys throughout different realities. Magma Comix announced their partnership with Ruptura Estudios in March 2024.
For fans of The Man in the High Castle, East of West, and DC’s Elseworlds line, Rome Eternal #1 also features a beautifully illustrated variant cover from famed Malaysian artist Alan Quah (Dark Souls).

The highly anticipated Mad Cave Studios super-secret news has been revealed in San Diego at Comic-Con International: Amazing Comics, a.k.a. Idaho’s #1 comic book company!
Since 2014, Mad Cave Studios has steadily carved out a reputation for bold storytelling, creator-focused comics, and boundary-pushing ideas. Now in its tenth year, the Miami-based publisher is thrilled to announce their groundbreaking partnership with premier European publishing house, Dupuis, to fully realize the worldwide publishing aspirations of Amazing Comics, a thrilling new venture from legendary American comic book artist, writer, and editor Joe Quesada!
Amazing Comics is the first true international comics imprint, creating original concepts for an international market. The inaugural title, DISCIPLE, by co-writer and artist Joe Quesada, co-writer Charles Dorfman, inker Wade von Grawbadger, colorist Richard Isanove, and letterer Joe Caramagna, includes a unique and captivating reimagining of Shakespeare's Hamlet that blends classic literature with modern storytelling. The title debuts today with DISCIPLE: QUARTO, an exclusive San Diego Comic-Con preview comic, with more information about this exciting project to be revealed in the coming months.
Joe Quesada shared the story behind Disciple's creation: "The true origin of Disciple came about when I met Charles Dorfman, a talented writer with a passion for graphic storytelling. Charles pitched an adaptation of Hamlet, which sparked a creative journey that led to the unique version of Disciple we have today. This project blends Shakespearean elements with contemporary genres, creating a rich, mythological world for our readers to explore that begins as a prequel to the original, set in a whole new world."
Joe Quesada, the founder of Amazing Comics, brings decades of experience and a portfolio of acclaimed works. A celebrated creator renowned for his innovative storytelling and dynamic art, he served in leadership roles as co-founder of Event Comics and, most famously, as the editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics and later the chief creative officer of Marvel Entertainment, taking the reins of the publishing giant during a tumultuous period and guiding it over two decades to become one of the world’s greatest pop culture brands.
