City Above, Mycelium Below—The Mushroom Knight Returns!
Mad Cave Studios will release the third volume of the cult series The Mushroom Knight in February 2026.
Mad Cave Studios is thrilled to bring readers THE MUSHROOM KNIGHT VOL. 3, the highly anticipated conclusion of creator Oliver Bly’s beloved ethereal graphic novel fantasy series!
Picking up from where The Mushroom Knight volume 2 left off, this latest story continues the epic journey of Mushroom Knight Gowlitrot and his endearing human friend, Lemuelle. Mysteries abound as the Hashkasha’da ritual looms--a ritual that will rid the Wissahickon of trash so long as the fae community offers up a substantial sacrifice of their own. Before this story ends, that sacrifice will be made, Lem will face her fears, a conspiracy will tighten its grip on the Gödel and human communities of Philadelphia...and Gowli will be in more danger than he’s been in before!
Bly has quickly become one of comics’ most distinctive voices, blending ecological wonder with dreamlike storytelling. In 2024, his debut volume won the Russ Manning Promising Newcomer Award at the Eisners and the Next Generation Indie Book Award, introducing readers to an ontological urban faerie tale unlike anything else on the shelves, and in the years since, the artistry has been recognized on an even broader stage, most recently as the illustrator of the official 2025 San Diego Comic-Con International Events Quick Guide. With his uniquely ‘fungal’ aesthetic, Oliver Bly is steadily carving out his place as one of the most imaginative and valuable creators in contemporary comics.
With colors by Steph Snow (Blue Palo Verde) and letters by AndWorld Design (Harley Quinn, Batman), The Mushroom Knight Vol. 3 pushes the series into its most suspenseful act yet!
“The Mushroom Knight is a graphic novel series about the natural world,” said Oliver Bly. “If we don’t like what we see in the world around us, we must look inward, because it is inside the hearts of humanity that the calamities of the world have their genesis—and their revelation. Volume 3 is the third and final act of the first story of Lem and Gowlitrot. There is action, there is suspense, there is mystery, and there is Fire. This is for fans of fantasy who are ready for its next evolution… into reality itself. The future is fungal. And as always, it goes on.”
The tale of The Mushroom Knight has been embraced by fans of fantasy, faerie lore, and ecological storytelling alike, straddling the mythic resonance of Sandman and the grounded wonder of Moss with the contemporary energy of urban fantasy. Volume 3 promises to deepen its cult following, cementing the series as one of the most daring works in Mad Cave’s library.
The Mushroom Knight Vol. 3 trade paperback hits shelves February 24, 2026. Preorders are available now through your local comic shop, bookstore, or directly from Mad Cave.
A Royal Hunt, A Dark Past. The Adventure Deepens!
A new volume and a new adventure from Papercutz is coming in February 2026 with Three Thieves Vol. 4: The King’s Dragon.
The mystery thickens!
Papercutz, an imprint of Mad Cave Studios, invites readers back into the award-winning world of daring heists and heart-pounding escapes crafted by two-time Eisner Award nominee and Joe Shuster Award winner Scott Chantler (Squire & Knight, Bix, Two Generals, Northwest Passage, Three Thieves) with THREE THIEVES VOL. 4: THE KING’S DRAGON!

With Dessa’s leg broken and the Queen’s Dragons in hot pursuit, the odds are stacked against the three thieves. Captain Drake recalls his early days as a knight in the service of King Roderick. In tracking down a stolen letter for the king, young Drake is drawn into a web of intrigue that includes a plot against the throne and cryptic clues involving Greyfalcon and Dessa. Does the key to capturing the three thieves lie in Drake’s own dark past? Could this spell the end of Dessa’s quest to find her long-lost twin brother?
Author Scott Chantler relished the chance to change things up:
“I’d set up a pattern with the first three books, one that I had fun breaking in this fourth one,” said Chantler. “The King’s Dragon is where the series really took a turn, became a bit darker, a bit deeper. It answers a few questions from earlier books and raises new ones, setting the stakes for books five, six, and seven.”
Forward contributor and founder of The Dragon comics and game store in Guelph, Ontario, Jennifer Haines (MA, B.Ed. OCT) added, “Reading Chantler’s work, you can feel the love—love of the subject, love of the line, love of giving something to his reader. Being able to put these books into kids’ hands is a true honour.”
Running 120 pages, The King’s Dragon continues the series’s all-ages appeal for readers 7-12. Three Thieves Vol. 4: The King’s Dragon will be available in both paperback and hardcover, and is available now for preorder through your favorite book shop, or from Papercutz directly.
This exciting new tale goes on sale February 3, 2026.
Inanna Sarkis Teams with Vault Comics for Original Graphic Novel, INANNA: The Name She Lost
Vault Comics has announced a new graphic novel. The Name She Lost: Inanna Book 1 looks awesome and has an all-star team behind it!
Vault and writer, director, and actress, Inanna Sarkis, have announced a new original fantasy graphic novel, The Name She Lost: Inanna Book 1. Sarkis is joined by Eisner-nominated and New York Times bestselling writer Tim Seeley, and the phenomenal artist Ademir Leal to tell a modern reimagining of the story of the ancient Sumerian goddess of love and war.

The story begins in San Francisco, once the heart of a counterculture movement of peace and love, now a city at war with itself. Mayor and presidential hopeful Tim Teller promises to fix the problems, but he has a new issue. On a brisk September evening, Inanna emerges from the Bay, wearing nothing but a lapis necklace. She remembers little more than her name…and that a deep sense of rage. Possessed of immense strength and unwavering charisma, Inanna becomes a champion of the people. But her immortal life as a goddess of love and war is coming back to haunt her. Ancient enemies and modern mythic forces collide as love and war clash in a battle for the soul of humanity—and Inanna herself.
“This story is deeply personal for me and seeing it finally come to life is truly a dream come true, said Sarkis. “I grew up hearing fragments of ancient myths about the goddess Inanna, but never saw them told in a way that felt alive, raw, and relevant to the world we’re in today. With this graphic novel, we’re reimagining her not just as a goddess, but as a mirror — of love, rage, resilience, and transformation. It’s about what happens when the past collides with the present, and how a figure born of myth can still speak to the chaos and beauty of our human experience. I wanted to tell a story that embraces both the light and the darkness — the tenderness of connection and the brutality of conflict — because those dualities live in all of us.”
“We chose to keep the title Inanna not because it’s my name, but because it belongs to the ancient Sumerian goddess whose mythology anchors this story—and honoring that legacy felt more important than avoiding any appearance of vanity or narcissism.”
“As someone who works across film and storytelling, stepping into the world of comics has been liberating,” she added. “The medium allows us to play with time, memory, and emotion in such a visceral way. Ademir’s art brings everything to life in such an extraordinary way, while Tim and I built a story that’s mythic but also intimate. My hope is that readers feel seen in these pages — that they find a little bit of themselves in our heroine’s fight, her vulnerability, and her defiance.”
“I felt honored to be part of this Inanna project,” said Leal of the graphic novel. “I have always enjoyed telling good stories through my art, especially exploring themes such as fantasy, mythology, gods, and the medieval universe. Creating the concepts for characters, palaces, and settings was an enriching experience, made even more special with the support of Inanna Sarkis. Since Sarkis is of Assyrian descent, I was able to learn a lot about her culture and incorporate that knowledge into the work, which made the process even more enjoyable. Each chapter I illustrated was not only a creative challenge but also a constant learning experience, broadening my artistic and personal vision.”
Seeley added, “I was initially attracted to the project because Inanna (the real person) and I come from really different worlds...she’s a model, an actress, and an influencer, and she has a legion of followers and fans who are not the usual comic book fan. So, I figured, this is a great way to reach brand new people! But, the more I talked to Inanna (also, again, the real person), the more I also really loved the story, and her take on it---the tale of a goddess who forgot what she stood for in the pursuit of fame and worship. I’m not sure there’s a much more relevant theme in today’s world.”
Inanna Sarkis, a Canadian actress of Bulgarian and Assyrian descent, became one of the digital space’s preeminent content creators, using her channels to showcase comedy skits and short films in which she writes, directs and stars. She’s found success on a variety of platforms and media, including film and television. She recently starred in THE ASCENT and RED MASK, the latter is scheduled to premiere Oct 11th at Screamfest Film festival. She can also be seen in David Mamet’s THE PRINCE opposite Nicolas Cage and Scott Haze and Amazon’s MAINTENANCE REQUIRED which is set to release Oct. 8th. Inanna is also known for playing “Molly” in the film series AFTER, starring opposite Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes. She has also lent her voice to QCode for the podcast series THE LEFT RIGHT GAME starring alongside Tessa Thompson. She then moved on in creating her own podcast ZAYA which it hit #1 on Apple’s Fiction Podcast list. Last but not least, Inanna is the newest global ambassador of the International Medical Corps and has donated financially and helped raise awareness on the Syrian Refugee Crisis over the past several years.
Sarkis will be in attendance at New York Comic Con 2025 with Vault, where fans will be able to pick up a very limited NYCC exclusive ashcan for The Name She Lost: Inanna Book 1. The full graphic novel will hit store shelves in May, 2026.
