Review - American Jesus: Revelation #2

The second issue of this latest American Jesus arc is from Image Comics and is out now.

Christ returns and walks the Earth, passing judgment on every man, woman and child, taking on Wall Street and The Vatican on this journey towards the final confrontation between Good and Ultimate Evil in the deserts of Meggido where Book of Revolution said the final battle would take place.

Building on the *ahem* revelations of the previous issue, this issue seems a little calmer.

Yes, there is still some wrath of God stuff, with an exciting look at what is to come, with the Pope and the Vatican getting some choice comments from the second coming.

I must say, though, the most interesting part is with the priest. Coming a kind of circle around the initial story arc, we see the president in a different light. His admissions are well done, as it is the reaction of the old Priest. I like the tension in this part of the story, with a good build to the end.

The end times seem to be coming faster, and this issue adds to the story's excitement. We see the power of the opposition (on both sides) and the end game. I will be interested to see how it pans out.

There is some excellent art throughout. Some more ‘normal’ moments are shown well, with the characters’ reactions. Meanwhile, the more bombastic aspects are depicted well, with the destruction and anger being detailed to good effect.
