Continuing horror in the halls of power with The Exorcism At 1600 Penn #3 out this week from IDW Publishing.
A hypersonic device has been found at an embassy within spitting distance of the White House, and President Doyle thinks it may be the cause of Mara’s violent episodes. Kevin, on the other hand, suspects something much more insidious: demonic possession.
He gathers resources to prove to Father Reid of his sister’s mortal danger but learns an exorcism may be just as dangerous for the recipient as it is for the practitioner. Can the First Family safeguard the citizens of the country they swore to protect from foreign influence? Can they save their own daughter from the denizens of Hell?

The penultimate part of this series ramps up the mystery. We go through most of this issue still wondering if the the problems and darkness around the White House is man-made or something a lot more supernatural.
This combination of the political and the spiritual is well done, with cabinet meetings, and priestly confessions being one and the same. There is a battle against darkness in this story, but is it from external forces (or countries), within the halls of power or does this threat come from hell?
We seem to get some answers towards the end of this issue, but, with one issue left, I am still unsure of what route this will go!
The storytelling and the differing points of view of all the characters is excellent, with plots and vested interests being laid bare in this issue. Combining this with the church, the school and the various political aspects and this makes it a gripping tale.
There is some excellent artwork on show here, with some interesting angles used in panels making you wonder what direction everything is flowing, this combined with the unique colouring style ramp up the tension in the tale. Then there are the more devilish aspects to the art…
Lets see how this pans out!
