The story continues in The Rocketeer: Breaks Free #3 from IDW Publishing, with a lot more being revealed about the Nazi’s plans!
Peevy and Rose narrowly survived the U-boat attack on San Francisco, but as witnesses to the danger, they are now targets!
For Cliff to protect his friends, he’s going to need to rely on special allies, including a mysterious figure from his past who previously had designs of his own for the rocket pack. Defeating the enemy will require some desperate measures, including the previously unthinkable-breaking into Alcatraz!

After the explosive previous issue, this issue goes straight into the cleanup of the attack on American soil. The use of the fog and smoke works well into the story. Both with the Nazis being able to get away with their part of the plan and the splitting up of the characters as they escape from the devastation.
Meanwhile, in this issue, we get a closer look at what the plan of the Nazis is and how they plan on going about this tough mission. The mission itself is made more difficult by not only the inclusion of Cliff but also some unexpected outside help.
As the story progresses on this issue, there is a lot to take in, with some action, spying, and storytelling. I like the excellent character moments between the shooting and fighting.
The artwork combines the colours and plot well, with brilliant wide scenes and close action. The use of motion in this is clever and fits right in with the story being told.
We finish with a double cliffhanger1, and things will get worse before they get better.
