This is a clever read. With the cute characters, a grimy underlay shows up well in the night-time setting, the underground beginning, and the cityscape as we continue through the story. The artwork combines the fun reactions and action with the gritty colouring and style. It all adds to the action and fun of the story.
The mouse and its lizard friend are on a quest. There is talk of previous adventures, and this looks to be one similar. As they progress, the amount of distance they travel is pretty big when you look at it. Across the city and more, with airships and other flying methods.
From a quick introduction, the story is fast-moving and enjoyable, with some fun moments, including in-air jokes.
This is a good introduction and thrusts us quickly into the adventure. Putting it in ‘our’ world makes it a good idea, and it has some great art and a unique story that should be enjoyable for all ages.
