Reviews - Nemesis: Rogues Gallery #5 & Prodigy: Slaves of Mars #5
Two reviews from Dark Horse Comics
Written by Mark Millar, two comic series complete their story arcs this week with Nemesis: Rogues Gallery #5 & Prodigy: Slaves of Mars #5 - both are available from Dark Horse Comics.
Nemesis: Rogues Gallery #5
There’s an island where billionaires gather to indulge in the worst fantasies mankind can imagine outside the watchful eye of the authorities. Nemesis has a plan that involves each and every one of them in our shocking conclusion to our most depraved series so far.
Author: Mark Millar
Artist: Valerio Giangiordano
Finishing off this story arc, we get a conclusion, but it is not the end of this!
Nemesis has a lot to deal with, and on this island of excess, there are many moving parts. It looks like he has thought of everything, but some factors are still in play that will try to spoil it all.
This is a fast-moving issue with action, explosions, and super-technology. It all fits in nicely together, and it completes Nemesis's comeback. That comeback was teased right at the end, and I do wonder if that will link into any of the other Millar-verse titles (possibly Prodigy).
There is some excellent art here, mainly in the jungle island setting. I like the explosions and action within, which give it a real action-movie feel.
A suitable conclusion to this character arc.

Prodigy: Slaves Of Mars #5
Double-sized finale as Edison Crane and his older, smarter brother discover who murdered their father, the decades long secret slave program on Mars and the terrible fate of the human race we’re all facing sooner than we think. This is a shocker!
Author: Mark Millar
Artist: Stefano Landini
This was a very cerebral issue of Prodigy. Yes, most of them are, but it all works out well.
We discover who is causing Edison and his brother problems, and the reveal of the last issue (and the cover of this) builds into it really well.
I like the fightback against this foe, and the resolution was excellent. It gave Edison an excellent reset button for his role in the world and added some interesting new dimensions to the character.
The artwork is excellent, with some high-concept science-fiction feelings to it. The cross of the orange of Mars and the colours of the butterflies is striking, and I loved the reactions of it all.
This had some brilliant concepts and a good finish. The words behind it make me think that there may be a potential clash between Edison and Nemesis in the future…
