Screwing Sinatra
From IDW Publishing
While I don’t usually review prose novels, Screwing Sinatra from IDW Publishing caught my eye and I rapidly got into it. Check out the details and some advanced thoughts.
Imagine a world where Frank Sinatra, Sam Giancana, and the Kennedys are in cahoots to get to the White House - oh wait, this did happen! Now lets give the story a twist and put Sinatra on the mob’s hitlist – Screwing Sinatra is a sometimes true account from the Sinatra multiverse. Award-winning publisher of graphic novels and comics, IDW Publishing is set to release this gripping work of historical fiction in prose with Screwing Sinatra, available September 16, 2025 at retailers everywhere.
Las Vegas entrepreneur and author, P Moss (Vegas Tabloid, The Houdini Killer), has woven together this stunning work of historical fiction based on conversations from ole’ blue eyes insiders including Sinatra’s long-time valet George Jacobs and former JFK press secretary, journalist, and politician, Pierre Salenger. P. Moss is as colorful as the stories he tells, creating an exciting crime thriller based on real-life events in the ’50s and ’60s Las Vegas, with a twist of fabrication, in the dark underbelly of the infamous city’s glitz and glamor.
“Cards and dice. Booze and broads. When the mob ran Las Vegas in the mid-twentieth century the town had a style unlike any other destination in the world and, as a writer of twisted historical noir, being able to merge off-the-wall fiction with the unimaginable truth of that eye-popping era in my novel Screwing Sinatra was fun. A lot of fun,” says author P Moss.
Join the Rat Pack in this stylish crime-thriller novel that showcases the glitz, glamor, and grime of Las Vegas’ early years from the author who captures the atmosphere of Sin City's heyday like no other!
It's 1960, and Frank Sinatra, the king of showbiz, is conspiring with Jack Kennedy and gangster Sam Giancana to steal the presidential election. Then, in a mind-blowing twist, Sinatra’s perfect world comes crashing down on him as he is betrayed by JFK and finds himself in the crosshairs of a mob assassin!
Historical fiction interests me. I haven’t read any, and although I enjoyed Sharpe's historical fiction on TV (back in the day), it isn’t a genre that has caught my eye for reading.
Nevertheless, I thought I would give a book about the controversial election of JFK and the addition of Sinatra and the Mob a try.
I was hooked.
An easy read, Screwing Sinatra has an all-star cast and moves around the known history well, including figures from both politics and entertainment of the time. Not only do we get Sinatra, but we get the Rat Pack, we get JFK, and we call Jackie, his father and his brother. All of them have a role to play in the story, with a liberal sprinkling of booze and women too.
Told from the viewpoint of Blue Eyes himself, this is a gripping tale of the deals made to elect a president and the fallout between all the interested parties after the fact.
It’s pretty tense in places, and the betrayals hit Sinatra hard, and he not only has to deal with the criminal element that he called in to help, but also the other side of the law, as Bobby Kennedy comes after him and those around him. You get to a point where you can’t see the way out for Sinatra, and the ending cleverly puts things back where they belong.
Two entertaining epilogues finish the story with a wry smile and show how things have changed for those who are left.
In all this is a clever read, with entertaining looks into the worlds of showbiz and politics of the 60s. I worked my way through it pretty quickly, and it stuck with me!
Screwing Sinatra will be available at retailers everywhere on September 16, 2025 in softcover and digitally for a list price of $15.99 (ISBN: 9798887243566).
