Some thoughts on The Nasty #6 - out now in print and digitally from Vault Comics.
Cynthia Crudgill has brought her anti-horror campaign to Rutherglen, which spells bad news for Monster-Dome Video and for the efforts of Thumper and his friends to finish their movie. But things are about to get much worse...because Red Ennis is no longer taking direction and no longer disappearing once the cameras stop rolling!
Writer: John Lees, Artist: Adam Cahoon, Colorist: Kurt Michael Russell, Letterer: Jim Campbell, Cover A: Adam Cahoon & Design: Tim Daniel
After the attack on the video store, things are not going well. And, of course, Cynthia Crudgill is there to rub things in. There are some tense moments, and credit to the team behind this book, as I really hate her! 1
The elephant in the room is a big slasher, though. The build towards all of this is reaching its zenith as Red Ennis is no longer under control, and now he’s doing his own thing. There is a sense of honour in what he does, though, and the continuation of this story makes it more interesting and tense.
This story continues to be a love letter to the videos of yesterday - and you can feel the love of all these things in the writing.
The characters are well brought out, with some excellent reactions and relationships between them all. The art and pacing of the story bring it all out.
This story has excellent dark humour, and it all fits together.

I’m thinking Umbridge from Harry Potter!
